Academic Procedure
|
Please check whether your home university has an exchange agreement with NCKU. If your university does have an exchange agreement with NCKU, please note that you should be nominated by your home university’s exchange coordinator. If your university doesn’t have an exchange agreement with NCKU, you may also apply for the exchange program, only be reminded that you will be charged for tuition fees and other expenses during your study period at NCKU.

Prospective exchange students should submit the following documents:
1. Application Form (please include a passport-sized photo)
2. Two Recommendation Letters
3. A copy of your passport
4. Official transcript (English version)
5. Study plan
6. Financial statement
*A financial statement should be submitted verifying that you have at least NT$100,000 available
for one academic year, or NT$50,000 for one academic semester.
7. For students coming from China, please also enclosed the大陸地區人民入出臺灣地區申請書
and two passport-sized photos.

Academic Transcript
|
Upon successful completion of your study, Office of International Affairs will send an official English transcript to your home university (International Office).

Fees, Finance and Scholarship

Tuition Fee
|
According to the student exchange agreement, an exchange student needs to pay tuition fees to his/her home university rather than the host university. Students from universities that have no student exchange agreement with NCKU will need to pay tuition fee by own.
|
|
Cost of Housing
|
Student dormitory: $7600-$13500 NTD per semester
Off-campus: $3500-$8500 NTD per month
|
|
Living Cost
|
Living expenses range from $6,000 to $10,000 NTD per month, depending on individual lifestyle.

Health Insurance

|
We recommend that you purchase overseas insurance in your country. If you have insurance from your country, please bring proof of coverage with you to NCKU. You can also purchase the insurance at NCKU; full coverage for students is around $1,500-$2,000 NTD per semester.

Visa/ Alien Residence Certificate (ARC)
|
Visitor Visa
|
Foreign nationals who hold valid passports or other legal travel documents and intend to stay in the Republic of China (Taiwan) for less than six months may apply for visitor visa.

Resident Visa
|
Foreign nationals who hold ordinary passports or other legal travel documents and intend to stay in the Republic of China (Taiwan) for more than six months may apply for resident visa.

Alien Residence Certificate (ARC)
|
Resident visa holder must apply for ARC within 15 days following the date of entrance or the approval date of the resident visas at the National Immigration Agency. When applying for the ARC, one may simultaneously apply for a re-entry permit. The re-entry permit allows you to leave and return to Taiwan.

Visa Extension
|
1. Foreign nationals holding visitor visa and wishing to stay more than 6 months after their arrival should apply for changing to resident visa with the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).
2. Foreign nationals holding visitor visa and wishing to stay less than 6 months are not required to change their visa status. However, if they intend to stay longer than their visa expiration date, they do need to apply for visa extensions through National Immigration Agency before the expiration date.
*Required documents: (Original is required for application.) Documents issued outside of Taiwan MUST be translated into Chinese or English and certified by an ROC Embassy, Consulate, or Trade Office abroad.
